Who is HK Contractors?

George Hartwell began the operations of Hartwell Excavating in 1950, as a small construction company with a backhoe and a dump truck focusing on digging basements. Shortly thereafter Hartwell moved into small utilitiy work. On July 25^th, 1975 Kennaday Paving joined forces with Hartwell Excavating to create H-K Contractors, Inc. HK Contractors has been a mainstay of Idaho Falls, and the surrounding areas, ever since. H-K is one of Idaho's largest construction companies and has expanded its project scope to include Montana and Wyoming.

Through the years H-K has received numerous local, state, and federal awards for outstanding work quality and performance. Included among these awards it the "Best Construction Project" for 1998, 2003, and 2004 from the U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration.

On November 5th, 2007 Oldcastle Materials purchased HK Contractors, Inc. This purchase increased our company's abilities by providing many more resources and increasing our purchasing leverage. Oldcastle materials is the United States division of an even larger company, CRH, pc. CRH is located in Dublin, Ireland.
