George Hartwell began operations in 1950 as a small construction company with a backhoe and a dump truck focusing on digging basements. He then moved into small utilitiy work. In approximately 1975 John Kennaday, with Kennaday Paving, joined forces with Mr. Hartwell to create HK Contractors, Inc. HK Contractors, Inc. was on the way to becoming what we are today.
On November 5th, 2007 Oldcastle Materials purchased HK Contractors, Inc. This purchase increased our company's abilities by providing many more resources and increasing our purchasing leverage. Oldcastle materials is the United States division of an even larger company, CRH, pc. CRH is located in Dublin, Ireland.
